JRT FAQ's

1)    WHY DO WE HAVE DIFFERENT FORMATS?

Different suppliers often use different manufacturing equipment. Different mills often specialize in stitching with different fabrics and threads.

There are a variety of software systems that are used, and other changing logistical issues that can occur with changes in supply chains and tariffs.

Each production set up has its tradeoffs. Our in-house embroidery machine, for example, has a narrower width frame but can create almost limitless artwork within that frame. The larger schiffli machines are much more efficient but are more limited in terms of repeat size and stitching styles.

2) What are the general sizes of your formats?

Most of our in-stock fabrics come in a standard width continuous format (44” – 56”) and dare produced by large Schiffli machines in the United States, Mexico, France and Austria.

Our fabrics in-house produced fabrics come in the PANEL format only, with a maximum embroidery area of 36” x 36” The minimum order is 1 panel and continuous fabrics are sold in half yard increments.

Our embroidery machine also makes panels in 3 standard sizes, below. Custom sizes are also available.

3) HOW DO I FIND OUT WHICH FORMATS ARE AVAILABLE FOR EACH FABRIC?

  1.   The Product Page will list all of the formats available for a particular item under “FORMATS.”

  1.   Search for types of “Formats”your are looking for or the format names, etc: “Medium Panel,” “Panels,” “Standard,” “Standard Width,” “Continuous”

4)   HOW DO I DETERMINE HOW LONG A FABRIC WILL LAST?

Many of our fabrics have been tested for resistance to abrasion and other wear and tear. Please refer to the Weizenbeek test numbers listed for the fabric on its Product Page and on memo samples tags.

For those fabrics that have not yet been tested, please make a request for the specific tests that are required, which will be conducted at no charge.

We recommend consulting with your upholstery workroom for guidance of properly specifying the fabric for its intended use.

As well as relying on the testing information we provide, the end user should be consulted on durability expectations, the frequency and type of use for the fabric, its location and cleaning methods.

All of JRT silk fabrics are recommended to be spot cleaned by a professional dry cleaner ONLY. Do not wash with water or “dip” dry clean.

Delicate and Light durability fabrics are ideal for lighting, window treatments and other decorative accents in low-traffic areas.

Several of our embroideries are designed in the stitch pattern that looks longer and more artful, but is less durable, “Satin” stitch style. (photo)

We have developed a more durable version of these patterns in the shorter “Tatami” stitch style for greater durability to stand up to normal wear and tear. (photo)

Please note that, per the Terms of Service, Jennifer Robbins Textiles does not accept responsibility for the durability of its fabrics. The durability and other fabric performance tests are only to be used as a guide and the buyer is encouraged to have any fabrics tested independently to confirm the professional testing standards as marked on samples and this website.

Because the end use of the fabric, including cleaning methods, cannot be controlled by Jennifer Robbins Textiles, we are not able to guarantee the fabrics’ performance with regards to durability, lightfastness or other performance properties.

Our goal is total customer satisfaction for design professionals and their clients.

Fortunately, there are so many ground fabrics, threads, inks and stitching styles that custom fabrics can be easily developed to meet a clients’ specific project needs.
